The ‘poteira’ is used to catch cuttlefish. It is a tool full of hooks that must cause a lot of damage to the poor cuttlefish they catch.
Of course, the cuttlefish go there of their own free will, while the clothes are forced to go there, not attracted at all, almost always carried by the hand that washes them.
But they don’t suffer what a cuttlefish suffers.
